Cloud, cybersecurity, data science or programming: choose your IT direction
Compare the purpose of AIET’s documented IT programmes and ask the right questions before applying.
AIET Editorial Team ·
IT is one of AIET’s major areas of focus. But “an IT course” is not a single route. Start by deciding which kind of problem interests you: running systems, investigating security, working with data or building software.
Compare the documented routes
AIET’s supplied training scope includes Cloud Administrator, NQF level 4, qualification 118699; Cybersecurity Analyst, NQF level 5, qualification 118986; and Data Science Practitioner, NQF level 5, qualification 118708. Consult the register for the letter, credits, dates and approved site rather than treating these names as equivalent options.
Consider programming foundations
The separate skills programme approval includes Python, Java and C++ at NQF level 4, alongside intermediate and advanced end-user computing. Ask admissions which entry requirements apply to your current experience. Do not assume a skills programme is a complete substitute for a longer occupational qualification.
Look for learning you can explain
Ask about the curriculum, practical assignments, equipment access and assessment. A useful project should allow you to explain the problem, your choices and the checks you made. Enrolment alone does not guarantee a job or a vendor certification.
Confirm current intake availability, fees and delivery mode before applying. Explore our programmes or ask reception to help you compare the IT pathways against your interests and starting point.
